A Dictionary of Mosses provides a means of quickly determining the family in which any genus of mosses is placed. Since names treated as synonyms, many orthographic variants and the names for genera which are accepted as taxonomic entities are included the dictionary should prove a useful curatorial tool. Only names which have been validly published are included in the dictionary Generic names which are considered correct appear in italic while those which are not appear in roman. An alphabetical Index to the systematic arrangement id provided so thatĀ the various families can be easily located in the systematic arrangement the number after each entry in the Index is that given to the family in the systematic Arrangement.
