Advances In Morphometrics book was prepared by the NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI) under Leslie F. A conference titled “Advances in Morphometries” was published under the direction of Markus, held at Il Ciocco in Tuscany, Italy, July 18–30, 1993.
The ASI was widely publicized through Nature and several major professional journals, and detailed announcements were circulated to relevant academic departments and research institutions around the world. In accordance with NATO requirements, most participants came from NATO member states. A total of 71 attendees represented nine NATO countries, as well as included scholars from four Eastern European countries – now recognized as equal partners for ASI – and a small number of experts from non-NATO regions. Participants included active researchers from various disciplines such as biology, computer science, statistics, geology and paleontology.
Advances In Morphometrics His academic background ranged from graduate students to senior faculty members, including a distinguished emeritus scholar. A complete directory of attendees is provided in the Attendee List, including addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and available email contacts. Local organizational responsibilities were efficiently handled by Marco Corti and Anna Loy of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
He coordinated all logistical arrangements, starting with the initial communication with the Il Ciocco Conference Centre. His duties also included arranging computer and Xerox equipment rentals, creating event logos, managing poster sessions, and overseeing the publication of poster abstracts. His efforts ensured that the institute ran efficiently and provided a productive environment for scientific exchange.
